Death Toll Rises to Six in Jerusalem Terror Attack, 12 Injured
Palestinian gunmen kill six in horrific bus stop shooting.
Israel reeled from a devastating terror attack on Monday when two Palestinian gunmen opened fire at a crowded bus stop in north Jerusalem’s Ramot Junction, killing six people and injuring 12 others, according to Israeli police, emergency services, and local hospitals. The assault, labeled a “horrific terror attack” by Israeli officials, has reignited calls for global solidarity against terrorism, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemning the violence and affirming India’s zero-tolerance stance.
The attack, which targeted passengers and bystanders at a busy intersection, unfolded during the morning rush, leaving a trail of chaos. Yali Rothenberg, Israel’s Accountant General, currently visiting India with a delegation led by Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, shared his personal grief with PTI Videos at the Israeli ambassador’s residence. “I know the bus stop, and actually know the mother of one of my employees was killed,” he said, calling the attack a stark reminder of past atrocities, including those two years ago. “We are partners in this fight, in Israel and India, against extremists who commit inhumane acts.”
Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the attack on X, stating, “This is the evil Israel faces. Two terrorists opened fire on a bus in Jerusalem — targeting anyone in reach. 5 murdered. Over a dozen wounded.” Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar, in a video address, described the attack as part of a broader war against “radical Islamist terrorism,” urging the international community to choose sides. “Six Israelis have been killed… Are you on Israel’s side, or the side of the Jihadists?” he asked, noting Hungary’s support.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed solidarity, posting on X, “I strongly condemn the heinous terrorist attack on innocent civilians in Jerusalem today. We extend our heartfelt condolences and wish a speedy recovery to those injured.” Tagging Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Modi reaffirmed India’s firm stance against terrorism in all forms.
The attack, which saw the two assailants “neutralized” by security forces, has heightened tensions in the region. As investigations continue, the tragedy underscores the ongoing challenge of combating terrorism, with Israel and its allies, including India, vowing to stand united against such violence.
