“Dastardly and Heartbreaking”: Celebrities Condemn Terror Attack on Tourists in Pahalgam

Voices from the film fraternity echo a broader call for unity and justice as the terror attack near Pahalgam has left the nation grieving.

Indian celebrities have strongly condemned the terrorist attack near Pahalgam in Kashmir, which killed 26 people—mostly tourists—in the deadliest strike in the region since the Pulwama attack of 2019.

Actors Akshay Kumar, Vicky Kaushal, Janhvi Kapoor, Sidharth Malhotra, and Kamal Haasan, among others, have strongly condemned the attack and called for justice.

Actor Akshay Kumar expressed his shock and sorrow on X, calling the massacre “sheer evil.” “Horrified to know of the terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam. Sheer evil to kill innocent people like this. Prayers for their families,” he posted.

Veteran actor and politician Kamal Haasan also shared his condolences, calling the attack "heinous." He added, “India stands united — in grief, in resolve, and in our commitment to uphold law, order, and national security.”

Vicky Kaushal posted, “Can’t imagine the pain of the families who lost loved ones in this absolutely inhumane act of terrorism.”

Janhvi Kapoor expressed heartbreak, calling the attackers “trigger-happy, soullessly conditioned monsters.” “Nothing will be enough to quell this seething anger… Your people are with you. We mourn with you,” she wrote.

Sidharth Malhotra, currently shooting in Kerala, said, “This cowardly act on innocent civilians is unforgivable. I have full faith in our armed forces to ensure justice.”

Filmmaker Karan Johar, sharing journalist Faye D’Souza’s post, wrote, “This is heartbreaking… Prayers to the families.” Actor Hina Khan, currently in Kashmir, expressed disbelief on Instagram, writing, “Pahalgam… Why… Why.”

Raveena Tandon urged unity, saying, “No words to express the anguish… Time we let go of petty in-house fighting and realise the true enemy.”

Malayalam superstar Mohanlal wrote, “No cause can justify the taking of innocent lives. Let us hold each other tighter and never lose hope that peace will prevail.”

Film producer Ritesh Sidhwani called the incident “beyond devastating.” In his statement, he wrote, “The loss of innocent lives of civilians and tourists is heartbreaking. Violence like this has no place in any society. Let’s stand united against hatred and terror.”

Actor Sanjay Dutt took a strong stance, urging the government to respond firmly. “They killed our people in cold blood. This can’t be forgiven. I request our Prime Minister, Home Minister, and Defence Minister to give them what they deserve,” he posted.

Actor Sonu Sood condemned the attack as “dastardly” and “unacceptable.” “Terrorism should not have any place in a civilized world,” he said, offering condolences and prayers for the victims and their families.

The attack, carried out at a popular tourist meadow near Pahalgam on Tuesday afternoon, has left the nation grieving. As investigations continue, voices from the film fraternity echo a broader call for unity and justice.
