Cross-Border Drug Ring Smashed! 6kg Heroin Haul, Two Nabbed
Punjab Police Smash Cross-Border Drug Ring: 6kg Heroin Haul, Two Nabbed
In a major crackdown on narcotics trafficking, Punjab Police have busted a trans-border drug smuggling syndicate, seizing 6 kilograms of heroin and arresting two key operatives.
The operation, executed by the Tarn Taran Police, has dealt a significant blow to a Pakistan-linked network peddling illicit drugs into India.
The suspects, identified as Hardeep Singh, alias Deep, and Harjeet Singh, both hailing from Thathi Sohal in Tarn Taran, were nabbed after a meticulously planned sting. Acting on intelligence, the police traced the duo through forward and backward linkages, uncovering their role in ferrying the massive heroin consignment across the border.
Preliminary probes point to Pakistan-based smugglers as the masterminds behind the racket.
Punjab’s Director General of Police, Gaurav Yadav, hailed the breakthrough as a testament to the force’s relentless drive to eradicate the drug menace.
“This operation reflects our unwavering resolve to make Punjab drug-free,” Yadav said, adding that investigations are ongoing to dismantle the broader network.
A case has been slapped against the accused under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. With the seized heroin valued in crores on the black market, authorities are now racing to identify and apprehend other cogs in this illicit cross-border machine.
The bust marks a significant victory in Punjab’s war on drugs, as the state continues to grapple with the scourge of smuggling from its western neighbor.
