A Punjab Police sub-inspector lost his life in a tragic incident on Wednesday evening in Kot Mohammad Khan village, Tarn Taran, when a police team was attacked while attempting to quell a violent clash between two rival groups. The incident, which unfolded around dusk, has sent shockwaves through the region, highlighting the dangers faced by law enforcement in maintaining peace.

Sub-Inspector Charanjit Singh, aged 56, was fatally shot as he endeavored to mediate between the warring factions. According to police reports, the team had rushed to the village following a distress call to the control room reporting the escalating conflict. Upon arrival, the officers found themselves under attack. Singh, struck by a bullet, was immediately taken to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival. Head Constable Harvinder Singh also sustained injuries after being hit by a brick on his arm during the chaos.
