Cook Arrested In Malviya Nagar Hotel Fire Case Granted Bail

A Delhi court on Monday granted bail to a cook arrested in connection with the Malviya Nagar hotel fire that claimed 22 lives on June 3. Additional Sessions Judge Samar Vishal allowed the bail application of Keshar Negi, who had been arrested last month after investigators alleged that his negligence contributed to the devastating blaze at the Flourish Stays Bed and Breakfast in the Hauz Rani area of Malviya Nagar.
According to the investigation, Negi was taken into custody as police examined the circumstances that led to the fire. Authorities have been probing whether negligence on the part of hotel staff and management played a role in the incident. Besides the cook, several individuals associated with the establishment were detained and questioned as investigators sought to determine responsibility for one of the deadliest hotel fires in the capital in recent years.
The investigation also led to the arrest of hotel owner Lavkesh Bajaj, who was booked on charges including culpable homicide not amounting to murder. Officials alleged that the hotel was operating without a mandatory fire No Objection Certificate (NOC), raising serious concerns over compliance with fire safety regulations. The absence of essential safety clearances has become a key focus of the ongoing investigation.

Authorities continue to examine whether violations of fire safety norms and other lapses contributed to the rapid spread of the blaze. Investigators are also reviewing the hotel's infrastructure, emergency preparedness, and adherence to statutory regulations as part of the wider probe into the tragedy.
The June 3 fire claimed the lives of 22 people and prompted renewed scrutiny of fire safety standards in commercial establishments across Delhi. While the court has granted bail to the cook, the criminal investigation into the incident remains ongoing, with authorities expected to continue examining the roles of those responsible for the hotel's operations and safety compliance.
