Complaint Filed Against Pappu Yadav Over Ram Mandir Donation Skit

A police complaint has been filed against Independent MP from Purnia, Rajesh Ranjan, popularly known as Pappu Yadav, following a symbolic protest staged inside the Parliament complex over allegations of misappropriation of donations collected at the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. The complaint was lodged at Jahangirpuri Police Station in Delhi by petitioner Surya Maithil, who alleged that the demonstration hurt religious sentiments by disrespecting Hindu religious symbols. The protest, supported by several INDIA bloc leaders, has sparked a fresh political controversy during the ongoing Monsoon Session of Parliament.

According to the complaint, Pappu Yadav, dressed in saffron robes, enacted the role of a temple priest during a street-theatre style protest organised by Opposition MPs. Maithil alleged that the MP placed a photograph of Lord Ram Lalla Virajman beneath his feet during the performance, calling it an insult to Hindu beliefs. Speaking to ANI, the complainant claimed the demonstration, which also received support from leaders including Rahul Gandhi, Dimple Yadav and Awadhesh Prasad, deeply hurt the sentiments of Sanatan followers and demanded appropriate legal action against those involved.

The protest unfolded in the Parliament complex with Opposition members raising slogans such as "Chanda chor, gaddi chhod," "Jawab tumko dena hoga," and "Amit Shah, sadan mein aao." As part of the symbolic skit, fellow MPs portrayed devotees placing money into donation boxes while Pappu Yadav, acting as the priest, was shown secretly slipping the donations into his pocket instead of depositing them. Another Opposition MP then confronted him within the performance, symbolising the alleged diversion of temple donations. The demonstration was intended to draw attention to allegations surrounding the handling of contributions made by devotees at the Ram Mandir.

The Lok Sabha Secretariat reportedly took serious note of the incident and indicated that such costume-based demonstrations and theatrical protests would not be permitted within the Parliament premises. According to sources, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla expressed displeasure over the manner of the protest and instructed officials to ensure stricter enforcement of existing guidelines governing conduct inside the Parliament complex. The move signals a tougher approach toward unconventional protest methods within the legislative premises.

Defending the demonstration, Samajwadi Party MP Dharmendra Yadav said the protest was aimed at demanding accountability over allegations linked to the Ram Mandir donation issue. He claimed there were allegations that devotees who donated money were not issued receipts and that CCTV footage connected to the matter had allegedly been deleted. He maintained that the Opposition wanted Parliament to discuss the issue and described the performance as a symbolic means of highlighting those concerns rather than an attempt to insult religious sentiments.

The protest drew strong criticism from the ruling National Democratic Alliance, with Union Minister Giriraj Singh accusing the Opposition of insulting Sanatan Dharma for political gains. He alleged that parties such as the Congress and the Samajwadi Party had attempted to defame Hindu beliefs and said the public would respond to the incident. As of now, the police complaint has been filed, but there has been no official confirmation of any case being registered or legal action initiated against Pappu Yadav. The developments have further intensified political exchanges over both the Ram Mandir donation allegations and the conduct of protests within Parliament.
