CM Bhupendra Patel Outlines Gujarat’s $3.5 Trillion Economy Vision For 2047
Gujarat sets $3.5 trillion economy target by 2047 under Viksit Gujarat roadmap focusing on industry and innovation.
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Tuesday announced that the state has set an ambitious target of building a $3.5 trillion economy by 2047 under its long-term development vision ‘Viksit Gujarat @2047’. He was speaking at the centenary celebrations of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and its National Executive Committee meeting held in Ahmedabad.
The Chief Minister said the roadmap has been aligned with the national vision of ‘Viksit Bharat @2047’ and focuses on sustained economic expansion driven by industrial growth, emerging technologies, and investment-led development. He emphasised that Gujarat’s development strategy is designed to strengthen its global competitiveness over the next two decades.
Highlighting the state’s current economic position, Patel noted that Gujarat contributes 8.3 per cent to India’s GDP, 18 per cent to the country’s industrial output, and 27 per cent of total national exports. He said these figures reflect the state’s strong industrial foundation and its role as a key driver of India’s economic growth.

The Chief Minister also underlined Gujarat’s push into emerging sectors such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence, green energy, and digital infrastructure. He referred to the inauguration of two semiconductor plants in Sanand by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying the development integrates Gujarat into the global semiconductor supply chain. He also highlighted the expansion of GIFT City as a financial and technology hub, supported by initiatives like an AI centre of excellence and fintech infrastructure.
Patel said the state has introduced multiple sector-specific policies, including those for semiconductors, IT and ITES, and global capability centres, to provide a stable investment environment. He added that around 100 companies from the Fortune 500 list are currently operating in Gujarat, reflecting growing investor confidence.
He further pointed to national flagship programmes such as Digital India, Make in India, Startup India, and Skill India, saying these initiatives have strengthened India’s self-reliance and industrial base. He also stressed Gujarat’s focus on women-led development through initiatives like the ‘Her Start-up’ platform, aimed at encouraging women entrepreneurs.
FICCI President Anant Goenka said Ahmedabad was chosen as the starting point for the organisation’s centenary celebrations due to Gujarat’s strong industrial ecosystem. He noted that the state’s combination of policy support and private sector participation has made it a model for economic development, and expressed FICCI’s willingness to further collaborate in manufacturing, services, and digital infrastructure growth.
