CLAT Aspirant Found Dead In Patna Hostel; Police Begin Investigation

Teen CLAT aspirant found dead in Patna hostel room.

A 17-year-old student preparing for the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) was found dead in her hostel room in Patna's Secretariat Colony area on Tuesday, prompting police to launch an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death. The girl, a resident of Samastipur district in Bihar, had been staying at Radhe Krishna Hostel since 2024 while pursuing her law entrance examination preparations.

According to hostel authorities, the student appeared to follow her normal routine on Monday evening. Hostel warden Abha Singh said the teenager had dinner as usual before returning to her room for the night. She added that there were no visible signs in the student's behaviour that indicated she was contemplating any extreme action. The warden described her as a quiet and reserved individual who had recently returned to Patna after spending some time in her native village following the completion of a study module.

During the preliminary inquiry, investigators learned that the student had reportedly engaged in an emotional phone conversation with a friend shortly before the incident. Police sources said she was crying during the call, and the friend attempted to console her, advising her to avoid any harmful action and suggesting that she return home to be with her family.

Investigators also found that the student had allegedly expressed feelings of isolation, telling her friend that even her parents were not speaking to her. Fellow hostel residents reportedly informed police that she had appeared distressed over the past several days, raising concerns about her emotional well-being in the period leading up to the incident.

Police from Patrakar Nagar Police Station reached the hostel after receiving information about the case on Tuesday morning. Officials said no suicide note was recovered from the room. The student's mobile phone has been seized for forensic examination, while a forensic team has been called to inspect the scene and collect evidence that may help determine the sequence of events.

The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and the student's family has been informed. Police officials said the exact cause and circumstances of the death will be established after the completion of the forensic analysis and post-mortem report. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities are examining all available evidence as part of the probe.
