CCTV Footage shows Hoodie-Clad Gunman Executing AAP Leader in His Car

CCTV footage captured the fatal shooting of AAP leader Lucky Oberoi in a targeted daylight attack in Jalandhar.

CCTV footage has surfaced showing the moments before and during the killing of Punjab Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Lucky Oberoi, who was shot dead on Friday morning in Jalandhar’s Model Town area. The incident took place outside a gurdwara, where Oberoi had arrived earlier in the day. The visuals have intensified concerns over public safety and political violence in the state.

The video shows a man wearing a black hoodie and a face mask calmly walking towards Oberoi’s vehicle. The attacker opened fire at close range, discharging multiple rounds before fleeing the spot. Investigators believe the shooter was not alone, as at least one accomplice was seen waiting nearby on a two-wheeler.

Oberoi, 38, was seated inside his Mahindra Thar Roxx and was about to drive away when the attack occurred. Several bullets shattered the window panes of his vehicle, and another car parked nearby was also damaged in the firing. The attack unfolded within seconds, leaving bystanders in shock.

Following the shooting, Oberoi was rushed to a hospital in Jalandhar in an unconscious state. ACP Parminder Singh confirmed that Oberoi had sustained critical injuries and could not be revived despite medical efforts. Police teams quickly reached the scene, cordoned off the area, and began an investigation.

The killing has triggered strong political reactions, with opposition leaders accusing the Bhagwant Mann-led AAP government of failing to maintain law and order in Punjab. Leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa said the incident reflected a grim reality where even ruling party leaders were unsafe, raising serious concerns for ordinary citizens.

Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal and Punjab Congress chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring also criticised the state government, alleging a breakdown in governance and public security. The incident has once again brought the issue of rising crime and safety in Punjab into sharp focus.
