Capgemini Faces Public Fury Following Viral Toddler Abuse Video From Private Daycare Centre

Daycare abuse video triggers outrage, Capgemini faces backlash.

Capgemini has come under intense public scrutiny after videos allegedly showing the abuse of toddlers at a corporate daycare facility located within its Brookefield campus in Bengaluru went viral on social media. The footage has sparked widespread outrage, with many users demanding strict action against those responsible and raising concerns about child safety and oversight at workplace childcare centres.

According to police, five women employed as caregivers at the daycare have been booked following allegations of physical and emotional abuse involving children aged between two and three years. The videos, which circulated widely online, reportedly show several disturbing incidents that have prompted an official investigation into the functioning of the facility.

Police said the children were allegedly forced to sit inside the drum of a front-loading washing machine, sprayed in the mouth with water using a toilet jet spray while seated on western-style toilets, and locked inside bathrooms when they cried. The caregivers are also accused of verbally threatening the children and subjecting them to physical mistreatment. Authorities are investigating the allegations and examining the circumstances under which the incidents occurred.

The Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights has taken cognisance of the matter and announced that it will conduct an independent review. The commission has also sought a detailed report from the relevant authorities as part of its inquiry into the alleged abuse and the daycare's compliance with child protection norms.

The incident has triggered a wave of anger across social media, with many users expressing shock and disbelief over the alleged treatment of young children in a corporate daycare facility. Several have called for stringent legal action against those involved, while others have urged companies to strengthen monitoring mechanisms and safety protocols at childcare centres operating within their campuses.

The case has once again highlighted the importance of rigorous oversight, staff training and accountability in daycare facilities entrusted with the care of young children. Police investigations are ongoing, and further action will depend on the findings of the inquiry by law enforcement authorities and the Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights.
