Burglars Loot Senior IPS Officer’s Locked Lucknow Residence

A brazen burglary at the locked residence of senior IPS officer Yamuna Prasad, currently serving as Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in Noida, has sent shockwaves through Lucknow, triggering an urgent police investigation. The upscale Sanjay Vihar home in Vikas Nagar, left under a relative’s care while Prasad and his family are stationed in Noida, was found ransacked, with thieves making off with a haul of valuables in a meticulously planned heist.

The crime came to light on Monday when caretaker Asit Siddharth visited the property and noticed the electricity supply was inexplicably cut. Suspicion turned to alarm the following day when electricity department officials arrived to restore power. Upon entering the house, they discovered the rear window grills had been expertly sawed through, and the interior was in disarray. An FIR detailed the chilling inventory of stolen items: two wall clocks, three wristwatches, assorted gift items, Rs 50,000 in cash, 10 silver coins, silver utensils, and—strikingly—20 bathroom taps, hinting at a calculated operation targeting both sentimental and high-value goods.

Lucknow Police swiftly registered a case at Vikas Nagar station under relevant penal sections, vowing a thorough probe. “Investigation and evidence collection are underway, and further legal action will follow,” the department stated on social media, signaling a determined hunt for the culprits. Forensic teams are scouring the scene for fingerprints, tool marks, or other clues that might trace the thieves’ methods or identities.
