B.Tech Student Linked to J&K Gangsters Criminal Network!
Jammu University student arrested for supplying illegal arms to gangsters
In a major crackdown on illegal arms trafficking, Samba Police arrested Kaif Ahmed, a B.Tech student from Central University of Jammu, for allegedly supplying firearms to gangsters in Jammu and Samba districts. The arrest, announced on Monday, stems from a six-month investigation into a February 23, 2025, shooting outside a Miran Sahib hotel during a function, police said.
On the day of the incident, two gangsters, Rajat Raina and Raghunandan Kesar, were apprehended with two pistols. Their associate, Balwinder Singh, alias Goru Jatt, was nabbed after an extensive manhunt with another pistol and live cartridges. Further probes led to Ahmed, a resident of Barharia, Siwan, Bihar, identified as the primary supplier of illegal arms to the criminal network. Police recovered a country-made pistol from him during a raid by Vijaypur Police Station, supervised by Samba SSP Vinod Kumar.
Ahmed reportedly smuggled firearms from Bihar, transporting them to Jammu and Samba for sale to local criminals. A case under Section 3/25 of the Arms Act has been registered, with investigations ongoing to uncover the full extent of the network. Authorities expect additional arrests and recoveries as they trace the supply chain, suspecting links to broader interstate operations.
