BSF Foils Pakistani Drone Smuggling in Punjab
Six drones downed, heroin and pistols seized.
The Border Security Force (BSF) successfully intercepted six Pakistani drones near the India-Pakistan border in Punjab’s Amritsar district, disrupting a significant smuggling operation. The BSF’s swift response on Wednesday night led to the neutralization of five drones near Modhe village using advanced technical countermeasures.
A subsequent search in the area uncovered four packets containing three pistols, three magazines, and 1.070 kg of heroin, revealing the extent of the illicit cross-border activity.
In a separate incident early Thursday, BSF troops downed another drone near Attari village, recovering two additional magazines. Further, in a related operation near Dal village in Tarn Taran district, BSF personnel retrieved parts of a pistol and a magazine from a paddy field.
These back-to-back incidents underscore the BSF’s heightened vigilance and effectiveness in countering smuggling attempts involving narcotics and weapons along the sensitive Punjab border.
