BSF arrests Pakistani national near Jammu’s International Border.
The Border Security Force (BSF) arrested a suspected Pakistani national near the International Border (IB) in Jammu's Kanachak sector on Thursday. The man, identified as Nazir, was apprehended by alert personnel of the 44 Battalion in the forward area of Border Outpost Sohan during the morning hours. The area is considered sensitive because of its proximity to Pakistan and its vulnerability to infiltration and smuggling attempts.
According to officials, Nazir is a resident of Luni village in Pakistan's Sialkot district, located opposite the Kanachak-RS Pura belt. BSF personnel took him into custody and sanitised the surrounding area following the arrest. The sector's Deputy Inspector General also reached the location to assess the situation and review security arrangements along the border.
Nazir is currently being questioned to determine whether he crossed the border inadvertently or whether the movement was deliberate. Investigators are examining whether the incident could have been linked to an attempt to assess the alertness and response of Indian troops deployed along the International Border. Further questioning is expected to establish the circumstances surrounding his entry into Indian territory.

The latest arrest comes amid a series of similar incidents along the Jammu frontier in recent months. On March 25, BSF personnel detained an elderly Pakistani national opposite Border Outpost Bhaller in the Ramgarh sector of Samba district after he crossed into Indian territory. Preliminary questioning indicated that the crossing had been inadvertent, and arrangements were subsequently initiated for his repatriation after completion of formalities.
The BSF has also reported other encounters involving suspected Pakistani intruders in the Jammu region. Earlier incidents were recorded in the Ramgarh and Arnia sectors, including cases where individuals approached the border fence despite warnings and another instance in which an intruder was arrested without any incriminating material being recovered. These incidents have contributed to continued vigilance across the Jammu frontier.
Security forces remain on heightened alert along the International Border in Jammu, Samba and Kathua districts. Officials have maintained that Pakistan-based networks continue to pose a security challenge through attempted infiltration and the use of drones to drop arms, ammunition and narcotics near the border. Investigation into the latest Kanachak incident is continuing as the BSF works to establish the circumstances and intent behind the crossing.
