A 25-year-old man, Haris, was brutally shot dead by four bike-borne assailants in Uttar Pradesh’s Aligarh in the early hours of Friday, just before he was to have ‘sehri’—the pre-dawn meal during Ramzan. The cold-blooded execution, captured on CCTV in Telipada, Roravar, has sparked outrage and fear in the community.
Haris had returned home after playing a cricket match and was standing outside when the attackers struck around 3:00 am. CCTV footage reveals a chilling sequence: a pillion rider fires at Haris, who tries to shield himself but collapses after three shots. As he lies wounded, the shooter dismounts, delivering another bullet. A second assailant then approaches, adjusts his gun, and fires three more rounds into Haris, ensuring his death, before both flee with their accomplices.
Over half a dozen bullets were fired in the attack. Haris was rushed to a hospital but was pronounced dead. Police and forensic teams arrived swiftly, collecting evidence and sending the body for a post-mortem. Assistant Superintendent of Police Mayank Pathak confirmed a case has been registered, with CCTV analysis underway to identify the killers.
Preliminary investigations point to personal enmity as a motive, though Pathak noted, “We’re exploring all angles and questioning Haris’ family to determine the exact cause.” The brazen murder during Ramzan has raised questions about local safety, with authorities vowing a thorough probe.
