Breakthrough in Fatehpur! Two Suspects Shot, Arrested in Triple Murder Case
Two Suspects Shot, Nabbed in Fatehpur Triple Murder Encounter
A tense police encounter in Uttar Pradesh’s Khaga area on Wednesday left two prime suspects in the Fatehpur triple murder case with bullet wounds, bringing the arrest tally to four.
Piyush Singh (36) and Sajjan Singh (38), accused of gunning down a Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader and his kin, were nabbed after a firefight at a checkpoint, escalating a manhunt that’s gripped the region.
Superintendent of Police Dhawal Jaiswal said the duo, cruising in a black Scorpio SUV, opened fire on officers during a routine stop. “In retaliatory firing, both sustained leg injuries and were arrested,” he confirmed. The dramatic takedown follows the Tuesday arrests of Suresh Kumar (55) and his son Bhupinder Singh (32), hours after the killings rocked Akhri village. Early confusion had listed Piyush among Tuesday’s detainees, but officials clarified he was only caught post-encounter.
The bloodbath began Tuesday when BKU district president Pappu Singh (50), his son Abhay (22), and brother Pinku (45) were shot dead over a tractor blocking a village road. Inspector General Prem Kumar Gautam said the spark ignited when ex-village head Suresh Kumar, alias Munnu, clashed with Pappu over the obstruction.
The argument spiraled into chaos as Suresh’s sons and aides unleashed a hail of bullets.
With eight police teams now hunting remaining suspects Gyan Singh and Vivek, the investigation points to deep-seated grudges—political rivalry and a scrapped ration shop deal—as motives. Heavy security, including the Provincial Armed Constabulary, blankets Akhri village, where a videographed autopsy by senior doctors awaits the victims’ bodies. Fatehpur’s quiet lanes have turned into a battleground of retribution, and the law is closing in.
