#BreakingNews: Newlywed's Body Left at Parents' Home in Dowry Murder Case in Bihar

Newlywed woman's body dumped at parents' doorstep in Bihar amid dowry harassment allegations.

In Bihar's Vaishali district, a newlywed woman named Sarita died under mysterious circumstances, leading to grave dowry harassment allegations against her in-laws. Her father, Jayprakash Mahto, claims she was married to Satyendra Kumar of Kartahan Buzurg village just nine months ago. Despite paying Rs 8 lakh for land registration, the in-laws allegedly demanded an additional Rs 3 lakh, subjecting Sarita to constant torture. The family discovered her body with strangulation marks on her neck, dumped outside their Pedia Bazar home in Saran district under Harihar Nath Police Station jurisdiction.

Around 12:30 am on January 16, suspects arrived in a black Scorpio vehicle, left Sarita's body at the doorstep, and fled, as captured clearly on CCTV footage outside the house. The footage shows individuals exiting the vehicle, abandoning the body, and speeding away, providing crucial leads for investigators. Chaos erupted when the family found her in the morning, prompting immediate police involvement. Harihar Nath SHO confirmed seizing the vehicle and launching a full probe into the midnight dumping.

The case escalated dramatically as the Scorpio is registered to Sub-Inspector Santosh Rajak, posted in Muzaffarpur district. Authorities are investigating if the officer was directly involved or if his vehicle was misused by others. This police connection has embarrassed the department, drawing sharp scrutiny from higher officials. Teams are raiding locations based on CCTV evidence to identify and arrest all suspects seen in the vehicle.

Jayprakash Mahto lodged a formal complaint, accusing Satyendra Kumar and four family members of murder driven by dowry greed. He described the act as a societal blot, demanding the harshest punishment. The family insists Sarita faced relentless harassment despite their financial efforts to meet demands. An FIR has been registered against the five accused under relevant sections.

Police have taken Sarita's body for post-mortem to confirm the cause of death, with strangulation marks as a key focus. District officials assure a thorough, unbiased investigation, prioritizing the cop vehicle angle. Raids continue, with promises of swift arrests. The incident highlights persistent dowry issues in the region, fueling public outrage.
