#BreakingNews: IED and Narcotics Seized in Cross-Border Drone Operation in J&K
Security forces recover explosives, ammo after spotting Pakistani drone.
Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district detected suspicious drone activity near the Line of Control on Thursday, prompting an immediate joint operation that uncovered a dangerous consignment of explosives, ammunition, and narcotics. The alert was raised following observations in the Chakkan da Bagh area of Khari village, situated between Rangar Nallah and the Poonch River.
A coordinated search by the Jammu and Kashmir Police’s Special Operations Group and Army personnel led to the discovery of a packet believed to have been air-dropped by the drone. The recovered items included a 2-kg improvised explosive device, quantities of ammunition, and narcotics, highlighting a potential cross-border smuggling and sabotage attempt.
Experts from the Army's Bomb Disposal Squad were promptly deployed to the site, where they successfully defused and neutralized the IED, preventing a possible major terrorist incident in the sensitive border region. Officials suspect the drone originated from across the LoC and returned to Pakistan-occupied territory after completing the drop.

A defence spokesperson based in Jammu confirmed the recoveries, emphasizing the vigilance of the forces. Authorities have indicated that the drone likely crossed back into Pakistan after delivering the consignment, underscoring ongoing challenges with unmanned aerial vehicles in border security.
A joint investigation involving the police and Army has been initiated to determine the drone's origin, flight path, and intended recipients of the illicit materials. The incident reinforces concerns over the use of drones for smuggling weapons and drugs across the heavily guarded Line of Control.
