#BreakingNews: Gujarat ATS and UP Police Raid Home of ISIS Module Suspect in Lakhimpur
Gujarat ATS uncovers ISIS-linked ricin terror module.
The Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad, collaborating with Uttar Pradesh Police, executed a raid on the residence of Mohammad Suhail Khan in Lakhimpur, a suspect detained in connection with an ISIS-affiliated terror module. During the operation conducted on Monday, authorities recovered an ISIS flag from the premises, reinforcing allegations of the group's ideological alignment. Officials disclosed that Khan and his co-accused, Azad Suleman Sheikh, had previously traveled to Kashmir to assess potential smuggling routes for weapons and chemical substances critical to their planned operations.
The investigation intensified following the arrest of three individuals—Azad Suleman Sheikh, Mohammad Suhail Mohammad Saleem, and MBBS doctor Ahmed Mohiyuddin Saiyed—who are accused of developing ricin, a potent toxin extracted from castor bean processing waste. Dr. Saiyed reportedly procured necessary equipment, acquired castor oil, and initiated preliminary extraction procedures prior to the ATS intervention. The module allegedly conducted surveillance at sensitive locations, including the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh office in Lucknow, Azadpur Mandi in Delhi, and various sites in Ahmedabad, indicating targeted reconnaissance for potential attacks.
From Dr. Saiyed’s possession, law enforcement seized two Glock pistols, one Beretta handgun, 30 live ammunition rounds, and four liters of castor oil, materials purportedly intended for toxin production. A separate search at Saiyed’s residence in Hyderabad’s Rajendranagar area yielded additional chemicals and raw materials suspected for synthesizing an unidentified compound. Forensic examinations are currently in progress to authenticate the seized substances as ricin and to substantiate operational connections to the Islamic State Khorasan Province.

Preliminary findings have identified Dr. Saiyed’s handler, known as Abu Khadija, as operating from Afghanistan with established ties to ISKP and communications with operatives in Pakistan. This international dimension has expanded the scope of the probe, highlighting cross-border coordination in the alleged plot. The accused face charges under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, and Arms Act, with a court granting ATS custody of Saiyed until November 17 to facilitate further interrogation and evidence collection.
The recovery of extremist paraphernalia and weaponry underscores the gravity of the disrupted module, prompting heightened vigilance across multiple states. As forensic results and custodial interrogations proceed, authorities aim to dismantle any remaining network elements and prevent escalation of the threat posed by this ISIS-inspired ricin initiative.
