#BreakingNews: AAP Leader’s Home Hit by Gunfire in Phagwara Midnight Attack
Assailants fire 23 rounds at Punjab politician's residence; probe launched.
In a startling incident in Punjab's Phagwara, two assailants on a motorcycle targeted the residence of a prominent Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Leader early Thursday morning. The attack occurred near Darvesh Pind village along the Phagwara-Jandiala road, with no casualties reported despite the intensity of the gunfire. Authorities have initiated a comprehensive investigation to apprehend the perpetrators.
Daljit Singh Raju, the Phagwara coordinator for AAP's anti-drug campaign 'Yudh Nashian Virudh,' recounted the event to media personnel. He stated that approximately 23 rounds were discharged at his home around 1:13 a.m., resulting in shattered windows and doors. Raju, known as a close associate of Hoshiarpur MP Raj Kumar Chabbewal, emphasized that the attack appeared unprovoked.
Phagwara Sub-Divisional Superintendent of Police Madhvi Sharma confirmed the details, noting that CCTV footage is under review and additional forces have been stationed at the site. Raids are ongoing across potential hideouts, with all aspects of the case being examined meticulously. Sharma assured that the situation is under control and the culprits will be captured imminently.

According to Raju, the attackers arrived on a motorcycle, parked it nearby, and approached the house on foot before opening fire. Initially mistaking the sounds for firecrackers, he and his wife soon realized the gravity of the situation upon witnessing the armed individuals. Raju promptly alerted the police, leading to a swift response.
Sources revealed that a handwritten note in English was discovered at the scene, referencing a specific group and a demand for Rs 5 crore. Raju denied any prior enmity or extortion attempts. Police officials indicated that the note forms a key element of the ongoing inquiry, with further details expected as the investigation progresses.
