#BreakingNews: 3 Shooting Incidents Reported Across Delhi; Extortion Angle Suspected

Delhi police probe possible gangster connection in three overnight firing incidents.

Delhi Police are investigating three separate firing incidents that occurred during the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday across different parts of the national capital, with suspicions of a coordinated gang operation targeting businessmen through extortion. The attacks struck a gym in Paschim Vihar, a property dealer's residence in Vinod Nagar, and a house in Green Park Extension. Authorities are examining whether the same group of assailants or criminal handlers orchestrated the sequence of shootings to instill fear.

The first incident unfolded at a gym in outer Delhi's Paschim Vihar, where two men on a motorcycle fired two rounds without causing injuries. Shortly afterward, a social media post emerged claiming responsibility in the name of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, signed by an individual named Randeep Malik. The message accused the gym owner of ignoring extortion demands and issued a chilling warning, referencing the September 2024 murder of Nadir Shah, another gym co-owner shot dead in Greater Kailash. Police recovered a live cartridge from the scene and are verifying the post's authenticity.

Hours later, around midnight, two motorcycle-borne men fired three to four rounds in the air outside the Vinod Nagar home of property dealer Jitender Gupta. No one was injured, but an audio clip soon circulated in which a caller, identifying himself as a Lawrence Bishnoi gang member, claimed the attack and renewed extortion threats. Gupta confirmed receiving prior demands from the same gang on September 27 and December 31. Police have deployed armed security at his residence, and eyewitness accounts indicate the suspects recorded video footage before opening fire.

The third shooting took place around 1 am in Green Park Extension, where CCTV captured an unidentified individual firing at a house before escaping on a motorcycle. No casualties were reported in any of the incidents. Investigators are actively mapping escape routes across all three locations to identify potential overlaps in the assailants' movements and are forming specialized teams to track the perpetrators.

These latest attacks follow a January 2 incident in Rohini where over 20 rounds were fired at a property dealer's car, already linked to extortion threats from foreign-based gangster Himanshu Bhau. Police sources indicate the recent spate of gunfire, combined with swift social media and audio claims of responsibility, points to a deliberate campaign of intimidation by organized crime syndicates, primarily the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Senior officers have cautioned that gang involvement remains under verification pending further evidence.
