#Breaking: Naxalite Killed in Encounter with Security Forces in Chhattisgarh
A gunfight in Narayanpur forest claims one Naxalite; operations are ongoing.
A Naxalite was killed in an ongoing encounter with security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Narayanpur district on Monday morning, police reported. The clash occurred in the dense forests of the Abhujmaad area, near the Maharashtra border, during a search operation launched based on intelligence about Naxalite presence in the region.
According to a police official, the operation began early Monday, leading to a gunfight when security personnel engaged with Naxalites. The body of a male Naxalite was recovered, and intermittent firing continued at the time of reporting. The identity of the deceased is yet to be confirmed, and further details are awaited as the operation progresses.
This incident marks the 248th Naxalite casualty in Chhattisgarh this year, with 219 killed in the Bastar division, 27 in Gariaband district, and two in Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki district. The state has intensified anti-Naxal operations to curb the influence of the outlawed CPI (Maoist) group, particularly in the Bastar region.
Notably, on September 11, ten Naxalites, including CPI (Maoist) central committee member Modem Balakrishna, were killed in Gariaband, highlighting the scale of recent security efforts.
