Bomb Threat Emails Target Delhi Secretariat, Colleges
Delhi Secretariat, MAMC, UCMS on high alert.
A wave of panic swept through the national capital on Tuesday as bomb threat emails targeted the Delhi Chief Minister’s Secretariat, Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC), and University College of Medical Sciences (UCMS), prompting an immediate and robust response from authorities. The alarming threats, received via email, warned of possible detonations at these critical locations, sending security agencies into high gear to ensure public safety.
The Delhi Fire Service (DFS) reported receiving a separate call about the threats, leading to the rapid deployment of multiple fire tenders to the affected sites as a precautionary measure. Delhi Police confirmed that the threatening email specified potential explosions at MAMC, the CM Secretariat, and UCMS. Following standard operating procedures (SOPs), bomb detection and disposal teams (BDDT) were dispatched to conduct thorough sweeps of the premises.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Nidhin Valsan stated, “Senior officers, including additional DCP (Central), ACP Kamla Market, and SHO IP Estate, are overseeing anti-sabotage checks at the Secretariat, while the additional traffic officer (ATO) of IP Estate police station is supervising operations at MAMC.” He assured the public that comprehensive measures have been implemented to secure all locations, emphasizing, “There is no cause for panic.”

UCMS issued an urgent notice, suspending all classes and evacuating students and staff from the college building to prioritize safety. A police source revealed that a call was received at GTB Enclave Police Station around 11:30 AM, prompting the immediate dispatch of bomb squads, dog squads, fire brigades, and other agencies to UCMS. “The entire building was evacuated, and a search operation is underway to check for any suspicious objects,” the source added.
The Delhi Police’s cyber cell is actively investigating the origin and authenticity of the threat email, with preliminary findings suggesting similarities to previous hoax threats. “Initial assessments indicate the message may have been intended for a location in another state, but we are treating it with utmost seriousness,” Valsan noted. The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), traffic police, and Special Cell have been mobilized to assist in the response.
Intensive checks are ongoing at all three locations, with sniffer dogs and technical teams meticulously scanning the premises. Entry and exit points have been sealed, and access restricted to facilitate the verification process. Authorities remain vigilant, especially given the recent spate of hoax bomb threats targeting schools and educational institutions in Delhi over the past few months. Despite the possibility of these threats being hoaxes, officials are leaving no stone unturned, underscoring the gravity with which such incidents are handled to ensure the safety of all citizens.
