BJP Youth Wing Leader’s Car Hits Bonfire Gathering in Morena, Two Dead

A devastating incident unfolded in Madhya Pradesh's Morena district when a BJP youth wing leader allegedly drove his car into a group of people gathered around a bonfire, resulting in the deaths of two individuals, including a minor. The accident occurred late on Friday night at the Porsa-Jotai Road bypass intersection, where victims were sitting outside their residence to ward off the winter chill. Identified as 65-year-old Ram Dutt Rathore and 10-year-old Arnav Lakshakar, the deceased succumbed to their injuries during treatment at a hospital in Gwalior, while three others sustained serious injuries.
The vehicle was reportedly driven by Deependra Bhadauria, vice president of the BJP Youth Wing's rural unit in Porsa. Eyewitnesses claimed that Bhadauria was speeding and possibly under the influence of alcohol, causing him to lose control and plow into the group. The force of the impact hurled the victims several feet across the road, amplifying the severity of the tragedy and leaving the community in profound shock.
In the immediate aftermath, enraged locals apprehended Bhadauria at the scene, subjecting him to physical assault before handing him over to arriving police personnel. However, controversy erupted when the accused managed to flee from custody shortly thereafter, sparking accusations of police negligence or complicity. This development ignited further public fury, prompting residents to block the Porsa-Jotai road for approximately 20 minutes in protest, with one injured victim even refusing medical aid until the perpetrator's arrest.

Authorities responded swiftly, with Sub-Divisional Officer of Police Ravi Bhadauria arriving to pacify the demonstrators and assuring them of prompt action and the accused's imminent recapture. The road blockade was eventually cleared following these commitments. Police have registered a case against the BJP leader and launched an intensive search operation to locate and detain him.
This incident has raised serious concerns about road safety, accountability in positions of political influence, and law enforcement protocols in the region, as investigations continue to uncover the full circumstances surrounding the fatal collision and subsequent escape.
