BJP Fields Roopa Ganguly and Sandeshkhali's Rekha Patra in Bengal Battle
The BJP releases an 111-candidate second list for West Bengal polls due April 23 and 29.
The Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday released its second list of 111 candidates for the upcoming West Bengal Assembly elections, naming prominent figures including Roopa Ganguly and a Sandeshkhali victim, Rekha Patra. Ganguly has been fielded from the Sonarpur Dakshin constituency, while Patra will contest from Hingalganj, reflecting the party’s strategy to highlight key social and political narratives in the state.
The list also features several other candidates across constituencies, including Sabita Barman from Itahar, Dilip Saha from Nabagram, Mitali Mal from Khargram, and Gargi Das Ghosh from Kandi. Additionally, Anamika Ghosh will contest from Bharatpur, Swapan Majumder from Bongaon Dakshin, Arup Choudhary from Kamarhati, Sanat Sardar from Sandeshkhali, and Mallika Paik from Mandirbazar, among others.
In key urban constituencies, the BJP has nominated Priyanka Tiberewal from Entally and Sumana Sarkar from Balagarh. The selection of candidates indicates the party’s attempt to balance experienced leaders with fresh faces, while also addressing local issues and voter sentiments across diverse regions of the state.
