Bihar Tanishq Robbery Update: Two Arrested, Two Bags Loot Recovered
The criminals opened fire in a bid to escape, but were captured by the police personnel, who also opened fire in self defense.
Within a few hours of the daylight robbery at a Tanishq showroom at Gopali Chowk in the Arrah police station area of Bhojpur district of Bihar today, police officials have arrested two, and recovered two bags containing parts of looted ornaments.
The loot in the morning included gold, silver, and diamond ornaments. The robbers first overpowered the security guard at the entrance, snatched his weapon, and assaulted him before carrying out the heist. The incident triggered chaos in the area, with shopkeepers and bystanders left in shock. Though the shop-keeprs claimed the police were late, the police swung into action quickly and arrested two of the robbers after a brief encounter in which the criminals received bullet injuries in their legs.
Following a chase on their motorcycles, the police overpowered two of them. But, it was not all that easy. The criminals opened fire in a bid to escape, but were captured by the police personnel, who also opened fire in self defence, news reports say.
Two of the fleeing criminals fell down from their bikes after receiving bullet injuries on their legs. Two bags containing looted jewellery were recovered from their possession.
However, their four accomplices managed to escape. Superintendent of Police, Bhojpur, Raj said that two country-made pistols, 10 live cartridges and two bags containing looted jewellery from Tanishq showroom have been recovered from the possession of the arrested criminals.
They have been identified as Vishal Gupta of Dighwara and Kunal Kumar of Semra, both in Saran district.
He said a special investigation team headed by ASP Parichay Kumar has been formed to arrest the four remaining criminals. "The borders of the district have been sealed and intensive checking of vehicles launched to arrest them," he added.
