Bihar on High Alert as Jaish Terrorists Infiltrate via Nepal
Jaish terrorists infiltrate Bihar, alert issued
Bihar Police have issued a statewide high alert following intelligence reports that three Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists—Hasnain Ali (Rawalpindi), Adil Hussain (Umarkot), and Mohammad Usman (Bahawalpur)—entered the state via Nepal. The trio, identified through passport details shared with border district officials, arrived in Kathmandu in early August and crossed into Bihar last week, raising concerns ahead of the upcoming assembly elections.
Sketches of the Pakistan-based terrorists, linked to the banned outfit responsible for attacks like the 2019 Pulwama bombing, have been released to aid identification. Security has been tightened across Bihar, with special vigilance in border areas like East Champaran and Sitamarhi, which share a 729-km porous border with Nepal. Police have urged citizens to report suspicious activities, as intelligence suggests the terrorists may be planning a major incident to disrupt the polls.
The alert follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vow to eliminate terrorism after the April 22 Pahalgam attack, which killed 26 people. Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7, targeted Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen camps in Pakistan and PoK, neutralizing over 100 terrorists. Speaking at a recent Bihar rally, Modi reiterated, “No terrorist can escape after striking India. Our missiles will hunt them down.”
The operation, named to honor the victims’ families, has heightened regional tensions, with Pakistan planning to revive Jaish activities, according to intelligence reports. Authorities remain on edge as the election nears, determined to thwart any threats.
