Bengaluru Zepto Rider Attacked By Scooter Riders Following Road Incident
Zepto rider Deepak Kumar was assaulted in Bengaluru after a collision with two scooter riders; the video spread online.
A Zepto delivery rider, Deepak Kumar, was brutally assaulted by two men on a scooter in Bengaluru on the night of January 4, 2026, after a minor traffic collision at the 29th Cross Junction in Kaggadasapura. The incident, captured on CCTV and mobile phones, went viral after the footage surfaced on Facebook, showing the two assailants attacking the rider with kicks and punches following a dispute over the accident.
According to police, Kumar was making a right turn at the junction around 8 pm while en route to deliver an order he had just picked up from the Zepto godown. Two men riding a Honda Activa from the opposite direction suddenly applied brakes, lost control, and fell. Enraged by the fall, the duo allegedly confronted Kumar, accusing him of causing the mishap, before physically attacking him in full view of passersby.
The video shows the rider being dragged off his bike and assaulted on the road. Despite attempts by some onlookers to intervene, the assailants continued the attack for several minutes before fleeing the scene. Kumar sustained injuries to his face, head, and body and was later taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. He has since been discharged and is recovering.

The Bengaluru police have registered a case based on the complaint filed by Deepak Kumar and are actively investigating. The viral video has helped identify the suspects, and officers are working to trace the two men on the Honda Activa. Senior officers have assured that strict action will be taken under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including charges for voluntarily causing hurt and creating public nuisance.
The incident has once again sparked outrage over the safety of delivery personnel in Bengaluru, who often face verbal abuse and physical assaults amid increasing pressure to deliver orders quickly. Quick-commerce companies like Zepto have been urged to provide better safety training, insurance coverage, and support mechanisms for their riders. Local residents and social media users have called for swift arrests and exemplary punishment to deter such incidents in the future.
