Bengaluru Techie, 27, Found Dead During Vacation At Mussoorie Homestay

Police investigating circumstances behind techie's death at homestay.

A 27-year-old IT professional from Delhi was found dead under mysterious circumstances at a homestay on the Mussoorie-Dhanolti road, police said on Tuesday. The deceased has been identified as P Radha Gayatri, a resident of Kidwai Nagar East in Delhi. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, with officials awaiting the results of a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.

According to police, Gayatri had travelled to Uttarakhand with her husband, Soumya Sricharan, who works in the information technology sector in Pune. Preliminary inquiries revealed that the couple had reached Rishikesh on June 13 as part of their trip before heading to Mussoorie. They checked into Kiana Homestay Tipridhar, located on the Mussoorie-Dhanolti road, late on Sunday night. The couple reportedly stayed in a room named “Bliss” and had planned to spend a few days in the hill station.

Police said they received information on Monday morning about a woman who had been found unconscious at the homestay. Following the alert, an ambulance was dispatched to the property. A pharmacist attached to the ambulance service examined the woman and declared her dead. Local police teams subsequently reached the scene and began collecting evidence while initiating inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the death.

During questioning, Sricharan told investigators that he and his wife had consumed alcohol on Sunday night before going to bed at around 3.30 am. He claimed that when he woke up later in the morning, he found Gayatri unresponsive. According to his statement, she was lying in a puddle of urine and blood was oozing from her nose. Alarmed by her condition, he reportedly informed the homestay staff, who then contacted emergency services and the police.

Officials said the circumstances in which the woman was found have raised questions that require further investigation. Police have not yet commented on the cause of death and have stated that conclusions can only be drawn after forensic and medical reports are received. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and investigators are expected to rely on the findings to establish whether the death was due to natural causes, an accident, or any other factor.

Authorities are also recording statements from the husband, homestay employees and others who may have interacted with the couple during their stay. Police said all aspects of the case are being examined and that no possibility has been ruled out at this stage. The incident has drawn attention due to the unusual circumstances surrounding the death of the young professional while on vacation. Further details are expected to emerge once the post-mortem report and other forensic findings become available, helping investigators piece together the events leading up to Gayatri’s death.
