Bengaluru School Student Dies Under Mysterious Circumstances, Investigation Underway
Class 6 student’s death at Bengaluru school prompts investigation.
A 12-year-old Class 6 student died under mysterious circumstances during a morning exercise session at a private residential school near Yelahanka, triggering concern among parents and prompting a police investigation. The student, identified as Gurukiran, collapsed during the school’s routine physical training activity and was later declared dead at a hospital.
According to police, Gurukiran woke up around 5:15 am on Wednesday and joined other students for the scheduled morning drill at approximately 5:30 am. School authorities informed the family that the boy had suddenly fallen ill and was taken to a hospital, but relatives said he had already died by the time they reached there.
The student’s family has alleged that the physical training (PT) teacher assaulted Gurukiran shortly before he collapsed. Based on the complaint filed by the family, police registered a case against the teacher and began an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the child’s death.

A senior police official said that a classmate of Gurukiran also alleged that the PT teacher had beaten the student after he went to the toilet before the exercise session. The classmate further claimed that the teacher had a history of allegedly using sticks and rods to punish students over minor issues. Police are examining these allegations as part of the investigation.
The incident led to protests by parents and others outside the school, with some members of the crowd allegedly attacking the accused teacher. Police intervened, rescued the teacher from the situation, and used mild force to disperse the gathering. Protesters also reportedly blocked a police vehicle while demanding strict action in the case.
The accused teacher has been taken into custody for questioning, while authorities are awaiting the post-mortem report to establish the exact cause of death. Police said further action will be based on forensic findings and other evidence collected during the investigation. The case has raised renewed concerns over student safety, discipline methods, and supervision practices in residential educational institutions.
