Bengaluru CCB Busts Drug Racket, Seizes Narcotics Worth ₹9.93 Crore
Seven arrested, including foreigners, in massive narcotics crackdown.
In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Bengaluru’s Central Crime Branch (CCB) narcotics wing arrested seven individuals, including two foreign nationals, over the past 10 days, seizing narcotics worth Rs 9.93 crore. The haul included 3.858 kg of MDMA crystal, 41 grams of Ecstasy pills, 1.82 kg of Hydro Ganja, 6 kg of Ganja, as well as a car and a two-wheeler used in the illicit operations. The arrests, conducted across multiple police jurisdictions in the city, underscore Bengaluru’s growing resolve to combat the drug trade infiltrating urban and tech hubs.
City Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh, addressing a press conference on Monday, hailed the operation’s success, crediting the vigilance and proactive efforts of the CCB’s anti-narcotics team. “We’ve seized drugs worth Rs 9.93 crore, with MDMA and Ecstasy pills alone valued at Rs 7.80 crore,” Singh stated. He highlighted a notable case involving the interception of Hydro Ganja smuggled from abroad via a courier service, intercepted at a foreign post office in KG Nagar.
The operations unfolded across several key incidents. On September 18, in Mahadevapura, CCB officers, acting on a tip-off, raided a location and apprehended a software engineer turned drug peddler. During interrogation, the accused admitted to sourcing Hydro Ganja from Kerala at low prices and selling it at a premium to fund a lavish lifestyle. That same day, in Siddapura, three peddlers were arrested for procuring Ganja cheaply and reselling it for profit, targeting local networks.

On September 19, in Adugodi, the CCB nabbed a Dental College student who confessed to selling Hydro Ganja to known customers at inflated prices to support a luxurious lifestyle. On September 24, a raid at the KG Nagar foreign post office led to the seizure of 1.22 kg of narcotics smuggled via an international parcel, with a case registered against the individual who booked it. The following day, September 25, two foreign nationals were arrested in Hebbagodi for trafficking MDMA crystals and Ecstasy pills, which they admitted to buying cheaply and selling at high rates for quick profits.
The arrests reveal a disturbing trend of young professionals and students exploiting Bengaluru’s cosmopolitan environment to fuel the drug trade. The CCB’s swift action highlights the city’s commitment to dismantling these networks, with ongoing investigations to uncover additional links in the supply chain. Authorities have vowed to intensify surveillance and crackdowns to curb the spread of narcotics, particularly as the city grapples with the influx of high-potency drugs like MDMA and Hydro Ganja.
