Bathinda Security Breach: Petrol Bomb Attack Exposes Police Readiness Before CM Visit
Masked attackers hurl petrol bomb at BJP leader's clinic in Bathinda.
Panic gripped parts of Bathinda after a petrol bomb was allegedly hurled at the clinic of BJP leader and doctor Dr Tarsem Garg late on Monday night. The incident has raised fresh concerns over law and order in the city, particularly as Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is scheduled to visit the area in the coming days. No injuries were reported, but the attack created fear among residents and prompted a swift police response.
According to preliminary information, two masked individuals were involved in the attack. Investigators believe one of the suspects stood outside the clinic premises and ignited a bottle containing petrol, while the second person allegedly recorded the incident. The burning bottle was then thrown into the clinic compound before the suspects fled the scene. The act triggered a loud explosion-like sound, causing alarm among people in the surrounding area.
Local residents and passers-by rushed toward the clinic after hearing the commotion. The incident quickly attracted attention in the neighbourhood, with many expressing concern about the audacity of the attack. Authorities have not yet disclosed the extent of any property damage caused by the petrol bomb, but officials confirmed that the matter is being treated seriously and is under active investigation.

Dr Tarsem Garg, who was present at the time of the incident, said he was unaware of any personal rivalry or dispute that could have led to such an attack. He stated that he had never received threats and could not immediately identify any motive behind the incident. Garg was previously associated with the Aam Aadmi Party and served as a Trade Wing Secretary in Punjab before joining the Bharatiya Janata Party following differences during municipal elections.
Police teams arrived at the location shortly after receiving information about the attack and secured the area. Investigators have begun examining the crime scene and are reviewing CCTV footage from the vicinity to identify the suspects. Officers are also questioning witnesses and gathering evidence that may help establish the motive and sequence of events leading up to the attack.
SP City Narinder Singh confirmed that two individuals were believed to be involved and assured that efforts were underway to trace and arrest them. The incident has intensified concerns about public safety in Bathinda and prompted questions regarding security arrangements ahead of the Chief Minister’s visit. Police officials have stated that additional measures will be taken if required while the investigation continues.
