Autorickshaw Driver Arrested for Minor’s Murder in Thane
Suspect strangled girl in isolated area
A 40-year-old autorickshaw driver, Samadhan Arjun Suryavanshi, was arrested in Thane for the alleged murder of a minor girl, police confirmed on Friday. The girl’s body was discovered on July 5 within the Kasarwadavli police station limits.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Amarsingh Jadhav, the investigation traced the victim’s movements using CCTV footage, which showed her leaving home on July 4 and heading to a rickshaw stand near Thane railway station. This led police to Suryavanshi, who was apprehended in Lokmanya Nagar on Thursday.
Jadhav revealed that Suryavanshi drove the girl around before taking her to an isolated spot near Waghbil, where he allegedly strangled her. The motive for the crime remains unclear. Suryavanshi faces charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for murder, evidence tampering, and related offenses. He has been remanded in police custody until July 17, with investigations ongoing to uncover further details.
