Arunachal Professor Arrested for Molesting Student, University Acts Swiftly
Arunachal professor nabbed for exploiting student over thesis help.
In a disturbing incident in Arunachal Pradesh’s Namsai district, a professor from Arunachal University of Studies was arrested on September 19, 2025, for allegedly molesting a female student. The arrest, executed around midnight on Thursday, followed swift action by the Tai Khampti Youth Organisation (TKYO), which handed the accused over to the police after the victim’s ordeal came to light.
The incident unfolded when the student approached the professor for clarification on her pending thesis and two examination papers. According to the complaint, he requested her phone number, promising academic assistance, and invited her to his residence, located about a kilometer from the campus. There, he allegedly assured her of passing grades despite her admitting to submitting blank answer sheets. As she attempted to leave, the professor reportedly blocked the door and molested her. The student escaped and confided in a friend, who alerted TKYO.
TKYO president Senghkhun Manchey Tai revealed that preliminary findings suggest the professor may have a history of such misconduct, allegedly luring students with promises of academic favors. The organization met with university authorities to safeguard the victim’s academic record, ensuring she faces no repercussions. The university responded decisively, terminating the professor’s services immediately.
