Amit Shah To Chair 26th Central Zonal Council Meeting In Bastar Today

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to chair the 26th meeting of the Central Zonal Council in Bastar, Chhattisgarh, on Tuesday, bringing together key political leaders from central Indian states for discussions on governance, development and inter-state coordination. The high-level meeting is being viewed as an important step in strengthening cooperative federalism while also highlighting the changing security and development landscape in the Bastar region.

The meeting will be attended by the Chief Ministers of Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Chhattisgarh, along with senior officials from the participating states and the Central government. The Central Zonal Council serves as a platform for dialogue on matters of common interest, including infrastructure, internal security, economic development and administrative coordination among states in the region.

Ahead of the council meeting, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai chaired a high-level review session to evaluate preparations for the event. During the meeting, senior bureaucrats presented detailed proposals and agenda points that the Chhattisgarh government intends to raise before the council. Officials were assigned specific responsibilities to ensure smooth execution of all logistical and administrative arrangements associated with the gathering.

According to officials, the review meeting focused on ensuring seamless coordination between departments, security agencies and local authorities. Chief Minister Sai directed officers to maintain high standards in hosting the national-level event and stressed the importance of efficient planning and execution. The administration has intensified preparations in Bastar in anticipation of the arrival of senior political leaders and delegates from multiple states.

Speaking on the significance of the gathering, Sai said the member states of the Central Zonal Council contribute significantly to the broader vision of a developed India. He described the council as a successful example of cooperative governance, noting that it has consistently functioned in an atmosphere of mutual understanding and coordination. He also stated that the councils have become effective mechanisms for addressing shared concerns and improving cooperation between state governments and the Centre.

The decision to host the meeting in Bastar carries symbolic importance for Chhattisgarh, particularly given the region’s past association with insurgency and security challenges. State leaders have described the event as evidence of improving peace and stability in Bastar under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The gathering is expected to further reinforce the Centre’s focus on regional development, governance and integration in central India.
