Ahmedabad Anniversary Bash: ₹2 Crore Worth Liquor, Hookahs Seized in Midnight Raid
Police raid an anniversary party near Ahmedabad and seize liquor and assets worth ₹2.3 crore.
Police carried out a major liquor raid at a private villa near Ahmedabad during a marriage anniversary celebration, seizing items worth nearly ₹2.3 crore and taking 81 people into custody, officials said on Thursday. The incident took place in Gujarat, a state where the manufacture, sale, and consumption of alcohol are prohibited under law.
According to the police, the raid was conducted shortly after midnight at a private villa located in Safal Nirvana Greens near Sanand on the outskirts of the city. Officers found guests allegedly consuming liquor during the celebration, which was organized to mark a couple’s 25th wedding anniversary.
A total of 43 men were arrested on the spot, while 38 women were detained and later released after being served notices, Ahmedabad Rural Superintendent of Police Om Prakash Jat told news agency PTI. A case has been registered against the accused under relevant sections of the Gujarat Prohibition Act, and further investigation is underway.

During the operation, police seized alcohol bottles, hookahs, cars, and mobile phones collectively valued at around ₹2.3 crore. The seized items reportedly included 15 liquor bottles, 10 hookahs, 22 cars, and 74 mobile phones.
Police said the party was organized by a Mumbai-based man at a villa owned by his friend, with invitations extended to a select group of men and women. Blood samples of all attendees were collected and sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory to test for the presence of alcohol and drugs.
