6-Year-Old Dies at School, Family Demands Action Against Teacher

6-year-old dies at school, family alleges he was beaten.

A six-year-old boy died after allegedly being hit by a teacher inside a private school in Visakhapatnam, with CCTV footage reportedly capturing the child collapsing moments after the alleged assault. The child, identified as Pranay Teja, was studying at Little Garden School in the One Town area. His family has alleged that the teacher physically assaulted him after he failed to complete his homework.

According to the family, Pranay had left home on Thursday morning in good health and was eager to attend school. His father said the child had insisted on going to school despite the family initially hesitating. With examinations approaching, his parents eventually agreed and allowed him to leave. The family said there was nothing unusual about his condition when he left and that he had been active and healthy the previous evening.

The situation changed several hours later when the family received information that something had happened to the child. Pranay's father said the family was not contacted directly by the school and instead received the information from local workers near the area. The child was subsequently taken to King George Hospital in Visakhapatnam in an unconscious condition. Doctors examined him and declared him dead, according to the family.

The family later sought information about what had happened inside the classroom and said they were shown CCTV footage from the school. According to the father's allegation, the footage showed the teacher intimidating and hitting Pranay with a stick before the child fell to the floor. The footage reportedly shows the teacher striking the child, followed by the boy collapsing face first. The family has alleged that the physical punishment caused the child's collapse, although the exact medical cause of death is yet to be established.

Pranay's father has also rejected any suggestion that the child had been suffering from an illness before going to school. He said his son had been playing normally the previous night and woke up without any apparent health problems on Thursday morning. The family has further alleged that physical punishment may not have been limited to Pranay and claimed that other children had also been beaten. They have demanded strict action against those responsible if the allegations are confirmed by the investigation.

Police and revenue officials have begun investigating the circumstances surrounding the death. Revenue Divisional Officer Dilip Chakravarthy visited the hospital after being informed that a six-year-old boy had been brought there dead from the school and said officials were collecting details. Police have registered a case, while the child's body has been sent for post-mortem examination. The medical examination is expected to help establish the exact cause of death as authorities examine the CCTV footage, witness accounts and other evidence.
