A five-year-old girl named Aarti Baria was killed in a hit-and-run incident in Surat caught on CCTV.

A five-year-old girl was killed in a hit-and-run accident in Gujarat's Surat after a speeding car struck her while she was playing near a roadside. The incident, which occurred in the Sachin area on June 29, was captured on a nearby CCTV camera and has shocked local residents. Police have launched an investigation to identify and trace the driver, who fled the scene without stopping to help the injured child.

The accident took place at around 12.27 pm near Kamalam Public School in Iklera village. CCTV footage shows a black car speeding along the road before hitting the child, identified as Aarti Baria. The impact threw the girl several feet into the air, and the vehicle continued moving without slowing down. According to preliminary information, both the front and rear wheels of the car passed over the child before the driver escaped from the spot.

Aarti's parents work as labourers at a nearby under-construction housing complex. While they were at work, the five-year-old had been playing outside close to the road. The incident unfolded within seconds, leaving bystanders with little time to react. The tragedy has once again raised concerns over speeding vehicles in residential and construction areas where children are often present.
