27-Year-Old Man Killed in Shahdara: Shooter Hugs Victim, Fires Bullet at Point-Blank

Delhi man executed after embrace with killer on his doorstep.

A 27-year-old resident of Naveen Shahdara in east Delhi was shot dead late Friday night just minutes before his 28th birthday when an assailant he had agreed to meet for reconciliation hugged him and then fired a bullet into his temple at point-blank range. The murder occurred around 11:09 pm near Chhotu Halwai Shop in V Block, transforming an intended peaceful resolution of a recent dispute into a brutal public execution witnessed by family members.

According to heartbroken relatives, Gagan had stepped out of his home to settle differences with acquaintances, only for one of them to arrive on a motorcycle, share what appeared to be a friendly embrace, and immediately draw a pistol to shoot him in the right temple before discharging two rounds into the air and fleeing. His father Ravi Kumar rushed downstairs moments later to find his son collapsed in a pool of blood, lifeless on the very spot where the deceptive hug had taken place.

The young victim, father to a ten-day-old infant son and recently married, was rushed to GTB Hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. Senior police officials, including the Shahdara Deputy Commissioner of Police, crime branch teams, and forensic experts, cordoned off the area and collected evidence under floodlights as shocked neighbours gathered in disbelief.

Delhi Police have registered a murder case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Arms Act, detained one suspect along with the motorcycle used in the crime, and launched an intensive manhunt for the second accused believed to be the shooter. Investigators are examining CCTV footage and mobile records to reconstruct the events leading to the calculated killing.

As the family mourns the loss of a husband and father who should have been celebrating his birthday with his newborn son, the chilling sequence of a warm hug followed instantly by a fatal gunshot has left the entire locality stunned and heightened fears over personal rivalries escalating into cold-blooded street executions.
