20-Year-Old Gunned Down in Delhi’s Jahangirpuri, Suspects Flee Hospital

Delhi shooting: Suspects flee after murder!

A 20-year-old man, identified as Rohit Brar from Sector 16, Rohini, was shot dead in northwest Delhi’s Jahangirpuri area, sparking a police manhunt for three men suspected of involvement. The incident, reported on Sunday, has left authorities scrambling to piece together the circumstances of the killing, with no eyewitnesses and the suspects on the run.

According to Delhi Police, they received a call from Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial (BJRM) Hospital on Sunday reporting a man admitted with a gunshot wound below his left cervical bone. The victim, Rohit Brar, was brought to the hospital by three men identified as Pankaj, Alam, and Akash. However, the trio fled shortly after admitting him, raising suspicions about their role in the shooting. “They are absconding, and we are making every effort to trace them,” a senior police officer stated.

Preliminary investigations have hit a dead end due to the absence of eyewitnesses at the scene. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, though police are exploring possibilities such as personal enmity or a targeted attack. “We’ve formed multiple teams to investigate. We’re scanning CCTV footage from the area and conducting field inquiries to establish the sequence of events,” the officer added. A case has been registered at Jahangirpuri police station under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Arms Act.

The incident has heightened concerns about rising gun violence in Delhi, with Jahangirpuri previously witnessing similar incidents, including a 2019 shooting where a 20-year-old was killed by unidentified assailants. Social media platforms like X have seen users express alarm over the recurring violence in the area, with some calling for stricter gun control measures. The lack of clarity on the motive has fueled speculation, with posts suggesting possible gang-related or personal disputes.

Rohit Brar’s family has been left in shock, with no immediate details emerging about his background or potential enemies. Police are questioning locals and reviewing the victim’s call records to identify any leads. The case bears similarities to other recent Delhi shootings, such as the March 2025 murder of a 32-year-old in Ghazipur over a monetary dispute, where suspects were also tracked via CCTV. As the investigation unfolds, authorities are under pressure to apprehend the suspects and prevent further escalation in the capital.
