US–Iran Agree On 14-Point Deal Covering Lebanon Truce And Hormuz Reopening

US–Iran deal outlines Lebanon truce and Hormuz Strait reopening framework.

The United States and Iran have reportedly reached a 14-point memorandum of understanding aimed at ending ongoing hostilities in West Asia and establishing a structured 60-day negotiation framework to stabilise the region, according to details accessed by Bloomberg ahead of the expected signing on Friday. The agreement is described as a broad diplomatic roadmap that seeks to de-escalate tensions across multiple conflict zones, including Lebanon, and reopen key maritime routes such as the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global energy and trade corridor.

The White House has not officially confirmed the full contents of the deal and has remained largely silent on specifics ahead of the signing. According to the reported text, the memorandum begins with a mutual commitment by both the United States and Iran to end hostilities across all fronts. This includes a pledge to halt any offensive actions in the region, with particular reference to ongoing tensions affecting Lebanon and surrounding conflict theatres.

The agreement is also said to include provisions stating that neither side will engage in hostile actions, threats, or the use of force against the other. This clause forms the core security guarantee framework of the document, intended to reduce the risk of further military escalation while diplomatic negotiations continue over a two-month period.

A central component of the reported deal involves the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most strategically important shipping lanes for oil and gas exports. The restoration of maritime movement through the strait is expected to ease pressure on global energy markets and reduce supply chain disruptions that have intensified during the conflict.

The memorandum also reportedly outlines steps toward a broader regional truce, including measures linked to Lebanon and adjacent areas affected by the conflict. These provisions are intended to create a phased pathway toward stabilisation, with both sides committing to sustained dialogue during the 60-day negotiation window.

While details remain unconfirmed by official US sources, the reported framework suggests an attempt to establish a structured diplomatic off-ramp from escalating hostilities, combining immediate ceasefire measures with longer-term political negotiations aimed at regional de-escalation and economic normalisation.
