The UNICEF Paid Internship Programme 2026 is now open for applications, offering students and recent graduates a rare chance to gain professional experience with one of the world’s leading humanitarian organisations while receiving financial support. Designed to build skills in international development, advocacy, data analysis and programme implementation, the initiative combines practical work with mentorship and global exposure.
The programme welcomes applicants who are 18 years or older and either currently enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate, or PhD programme or have graduated within the past two years. Internships are available across a wide range of fields, including health, education, child protection, monitoring and evaluation, communications, policy research, and logistics, with opportunities offered in UNICEF offices worldwide or in remote/hybrid formats where feasible.
One of the standout features of the 2026 internships is the competitive monthly stipend, which can reach up to USD 1,700 (approximately ₹1,40,000) for placements tied to duty stations like Geneva, New York or Copenhagen. When applicable, UNICEF may also provide a one-time lump sum to assist with travel and visa costs, and offers support for relevant visa documentation to successful applicants.

Interns can expect a duration of 6 to 26 weeks, with roles tailored to maximise hands-on learning. Working alongside experienced UN professionals, interns gain insight into how large-scale humanitarian operations are planned and executed across regions.
