Trump Rejects Reports of US-Iran Diplomatic Stalemate Amid Escalation
Trump says US-Iran diplomatic talks are ongoing despite media reports.
US President Donald Trump has rejected reports suggesting a breakdown in diplomatic engagement between Washington and Tehran, calling such claims “false and erroneous” and insisting that communication between the two countries remains active despite escalating tensions in the Middle East. His remarks came amid growing speculation over the status of ongoing negotiations linked to the broader regional conflict.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said that media reports alleging a suspension of talks between the United States and Iran were inaccurate. He stated that diplomatic exchanges had continued consistently over the past several days, claiming that discussions had taken place “four days ago, three days ago, two days ago, one day ago, and today,” underscoring what he described as uninterrupted contact between both sides.
The US President also reiterated his push for a comprehensive agreement with Iran, stressing that the long-standing tensions between the two nations could not continue indefinitely. He said it was “time, one way or another” for Iran to reach a deal, adding that the current situation “cannot be allowed to go on any longer” after decades of strained relations. Trump also acknowledged the uncertainty inherent in international diplomacy but maintained that a resolution remained necessary.

His comments included a strong warning that the status quo was unsustainable, reflecting continued pressure on Tehran to engage meaningfully in negotiations. Trump emphasised that while outcomes remain uncertain, the need for a long-term settlement is urgent, given the prolonged history of hostility between the two countries. He also reiterated that diplomatic channels remain open despite conflicting media narratives.
The statement comes amid heightened regional tensions following reports of military escalation in the Gulf. Earlier developments included claims of Iranian attacks on US-linked facilities in Kuwait and Bahrain, following reported strikes on Iran’s Qeshm Island. These incidents have added further complexity to an already fragile security environment, raising concerns about broader regional stability.
US officials continue to maintain that communication with Iran has not been suspended, even as competing narratives circulate in international media. With tensions rising and diplomatic efforts under scrutiny, the situation remains fluid, with both sides signalling pressure points alongside ongoing, if strained, engagement.
