Chandrasekaran urges AI adoption for economic growth.
Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran declared India at a pivotal "inflection point" with a transformative opportunity to harness Artificial Intelligence (AI) for unprecedented economic and social progress. Speaking at the launch of Niti Aayog’s report, AI for Viksit Bharat: The Opportunity for Accelerated Economic Growth, on Monday, he called for a unified effort among government, industry, and society to leverage AI to drive inclusive development.
Chandrasekaran emphasized that AI could revolutionize key sectors like healthcare, education, agriculture, financial services, pharmaceuticals, and advanced manufacturing. “India has an enormous opportunity to embrace AI to create jobs, empower youth, and reduce inequality,” he said, advocating for its use in skilling programs to equip the workforce for a rapidly evolving economy. He stressed the need for fully integrated AI solutions to deliver tangible economic growth and prosperity across the nation.
The Tata chief urged industry leaders to collaborate closely with the government on AI policy formulation and take ownership of execution. “This is not just about technology; it’s about creating opportunities for every Indian, especially in small and medium enterprises,” he noted. By enabling widespread access to AI tools, Chandrasekaran believes India can address pressing challenges like healthcare access and educational disparities, fostering a more equitable society.
