Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra Tipped For 3,600-Nit Display, Record Brightness Record

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra leaked with record-breaking 3,600-nit display brightness.

Samsung's next-generation foldable smartphones and smartwatch could receive major display and charging upgrades, according to a new leak ahead of the company's expected Galaxy Unpacked event next month. The rumoured lineup includes the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8, Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 and Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra 2. While Samsung has not officially confirmed the specifications or launch timeline, the latest report suggests notable improvements in display brightness and charging capabilities.

According to tipster Ice Universe, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra could feature a peak display brightness of up to 3,600 nits, making it the brightest smartphone display ever introduced by Samsung if the information proves accurate. The current Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 offers a Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity Flex Display with a peak brightness of 2,600 nits, the same maximum brightness found on the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra. The reported increase would significantly improve outdoor visibility and HDR content performance.

The leak also claims that the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 could receive a brighter display capable of reaching 5,000 nits, compared with the 3,000-nit screen on the existing Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra. Previous reports have suggested the smartwatch may adopt Samsung's latest On-Cell Film (OCF) OLED technology, first showcased at the 2026 Mobile World Congress, which is designed to improve brightness, efficiency and display quality.

In addition to display enhancements, Samsung's upcoming foldable devices are tipped to support faster 45W wired charging. If confirmed, the upgrade would be a significant improvement over the 25W charging currently offered on the Galaxy Z Fold 7. The Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and Galaxy Z Flip 8 are all expected to feature the enhanced charging standard, allowing users to recharge their devices more quickly.

Earlier reports have also indicated that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra may be equipped with a 5,000mAh battery, while another rumoured variant, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide, could feature a smaller battery. Despite differences in battery capacity, all of Samsung's next-generation foldables are expected to benefit from the same 45W charging support, according to recent leaks. However, Samsung has not officially confirmed these specifications.

Recent certification listings, including filings with the US Federal Communications Commission, suggest Samsung is preparing to unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series alongside the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 and the Samsung Galaxy Watch 9 in the coming weeks. Until the company makes an official announcement, the reported specifications should be treated as leaks and rumours rather than confirmed product details.
