Riyadh To Host First-Ever BIO Middle East Showcasing Biotech Innovation
Saudi Arabia launches BIO Middle East to drive life sciences and global partnerships.
The Saudi Ministry of Health has unveiled plans for the inaugural edition of BIO Middle East, a groundbreaking biotechnology conference set to debut from May 11 to 13, 2026, at the Riyadh Exhibition and Convention Centre. Co-located with the established CPHI Middle East, the event marks the region's first dedicated platform for biotech innovation, aligning with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 initiative to position the Kingdom as a global leader in life sciences and pharmaceuticals. Organized in partnership with Tahaluf and Informa's EBD Group, BIO Middle East aims to foster international collaborations, attract investments, and drive advancements in medical research.
The conference will feature high-level panel discussions with global industry leaders, showcases of cutting-edge biotech innovations, specialized workshops, and extensive networking sessions. These elements are designed to connect investors, researchers, and policymakers, facilitating knowledge exchange and strategic partnerships. As part of the renowned global BIO series, which has convened biotech stakeholders worldwide for decades, this Middle East edition extends the platform's reach to the region, emphasizing sustainable growth in health technologies. Expected to generate jobs and bolster the national economy, the event underscores Saudi Arabia's commitment to enhancing quality of life through innovative solutions.
His Excellency Fahad bin Abdulrahman Aljalajel, Saudi Minister of Health, hailed the launch as a "significant milestone" in establishing the Kingdom as a biotech hub. "This event embodies Vision 2030’s commitment to building an advanced health ecosystem grounded in scientific research and international partnerships," Aljalajel stated, highlighting the integration of human talent, digital infrastructure, and strategic investments to address global health and environmental challenges. The National Biotech Strategy further supports these goals by promoting regulatory excellence and biomanufacturing capabilities, transforming Saudi Arabia from an emerging player into a competitive force in the sector.
