Reliance Industries Reigns as India’s Top Fortune Global 500 Powerhouse for 2025!

Mukesh Ambani’s conglomerate holds No. 88 spot, leading nine Indian firms on prestigious list.

Reliance Industries, led by billionaire Mukesh Ambani, has reaffirmed its dominance as India’s highest-ranked company on the 2025 Fortune Global 500 list, securing the No. 88 position despite a slight dip from No. 86 in 2024. The oil-to-telecom-and-retail giant has made remarkable strides, climbing 67 places from No. 155 in 2021, marking its 22nd consecutive year on the prestigious list—a record unmatched by any other Indian private-sector firm.

The company reported record-high consolidated gross revenues of Rs 1,071,174 crore for FY25, up 7.1% year-on-year, with an EBITDA of Rs 183,422 crore, reflecting robust growth across its oil-to-chemical, oil and gas, retail, and digital services segments.

India is represented by nine companies on the 2025 list, with five public-sector and four private-sector firms. Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) held steady at No. 95, while State Bank of India (SBI) climbed 15 spots to No. 163, and HDFC Bank surged 48 places to No. 258. Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) slipped to No. 127, and Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) fell one spot to No. 181. Tata Motors, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL), and ICICI Bank ranked at No. 283, No. 285, and No. 464, respectively.

The Indian rupee’s depreciation from 83.35 to 85.45 against the USD impacted revenue conversions. Globally, Walmart retained the top spot, followed by Amazon, with three Chinese firms and Saudi Aramco in the top 10.
