President Droupadi Murmu Praises ARTRAC’s Role In Strengthening Indian Army Preparedness
President Murmu reviews ARTRAC initiatives, praises innovation and training strengthening Indian Army readiness.
President Droupadi Murmu visited the Headquarters of the Army Training Command (ARTRAC) in Shimla on Friday, where she commended its critical role in enhancing the operational preparedness and modernization of the Indian Army. As the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, the President’s visit highlighted the importance of advanced training and innovation in maintaining national security.
Upon her arrival, President Murmu was received by Kavinder Gupta and Lieutenant General Devendra Sharma, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of ARTRAC. During the visit, she was briefed on the command’s evolution and its central role in training army personnel to improve operational efficiency. Officials also outlined several key initiatives undertaken by ARTRAC to adapt to emerging challenges in modern warfare.
The briefing emphasized advancements such as expanded drone training programs, the integration of niche and emerging technologies, and the introduction of “Red Teaming” strategies designed to critically evaluate military plans. Efforts toward digitisation and automation within the Army were also highlighted as part of a broader push to transform India’s military capabilities in line with global standards.

President Murmu acknowledged ARTRAC’s comprehensive mandate, which includes developing warfare concepts, managing resource development, and strengthening engagements with friendly foreign nations and sister services. She described the command as a vital component in India’s pursuit of military excellence, self-reliance, and the broader vision of a developed nation. With its network of 32 premier training establishments, ARTRAC plays a pivotal role in shaping professional standards and strategic thinking within the Army.
During her interaction with senior officials, the President discussed ways to further strengthen training systems to ensure the country’s security and resilience. She urged personnel to continue their efforts with renewed dedication, praising both uniformed and civilian staff for their contributions. She also underscored the importance of fostering innovation to prepare future-ready leaders capable of addressing evolving security challenges.
The visit marked the conclusion of President Murmu’s five-day summer stay at the Rashtrapati Niwas Mashobra. Earlier in the week, she attended a banquet hosted by Governor Gupta at Lok Bhavan. The Rashtrapati Niwas, opened to the public in April 2023, has since become a notable attraction, with local authorities offering free bus services from Shimla to Mashobra to facilitate tourist access.
