PM Modi to launch major infrastructure projects in Surat and Daman.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Surat in Gujarat and Daman on June 5, where he will inaugurate, dedicate, and lay the foundation stone for a wide range of development projects valued at more than ₹22,600 crore. The visit will cover key sectors including infrastructure, healthcare, power, aviation, tourism, and maritime connectivity, reflecting the government’s continued focus on large-scale economic development and regional connectivity.

The Prime Minister’s programme will begin in Surat around 2:30 p.m., where he will review ongoing industrial operations in the Hazira region. Later in the afternoon, he will inaugurate and launch projects worth approximately ₹18,800 crore in Surat. He is also expected to address a public gathering, outlining the significance of these initiatives in boosting Gujarat’s industrial and infrastructure ecosystem.

A major highlight of the Surat leg of the visit will be the dedication of Packages VI and VII of the eight-lane Vadodara-Mumbai Expressway. The high-speed corridor is expected to significantly enhance connectivity between Gujarat and Maharashtra, improve logistics efficiency, and reduce travel time for both passenger and freight movement. The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for key sections of National Highway-56, aimed at improving access across tribal regions and boosting tourism connectivity to destinations such as the Statue of Unity.

Additional initiatives include environmental and utility infrastructure projects in industrial zones such as Dahej PCPIR and Sarigam GIDC, as well as developments at the Jambusar Bulk Drug Park, aimed at supporting industrial expansion and sustainable growth.

In the evening, the Prime Minister will travel to Daman, where he is scheduled to inaugurate the new terminal building of NAMO Airport and dedicate NAMO Hospital to the nation. The airport terminal is expected to improve regional air connectivity, while the hospital, designed to handle nearly 1,500 outpatient visits daily, will strengthen healthcare access in the Union Territory.

Modi will also launch development projects worth around ₹2,970 crore in Daman, including infrastructure, tourism, and educational initiatives such as the Iconic Bridge, the Daman Convention Centre, and a National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) campus. In addition, foundation stones will be laid for major maritime infrastructure projects in Lakshadweep, aimed at improving port facilities, boosting fisheries, and enhancing year-round connectivity for island communities.
