PM Modi begins Melbourne visit to deepen India-Australia ties.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Melbourne on Wednesday for the second leg of his three-nation tour, saying his visit would provide fresh momentum to the India-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The visit is aimed at strengthening cooperation between the two countries across key areas including trade, defence, technology, education and people-to-people ties.
After reaching Melbourne, Modi said he looked forward to discussions with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and engagement with the Indian diaspora, which he described as an important link in bilateral relations. The visit comes as both countries continue efforts to expand strategic and economic cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region.
During his stay, Modi is scheduled to co-chair the third Annual Leaders’ Summit with Albanese and hold discussions on strengthening the partnership between India and Australia. The talks are expected to focus on areas such as defence and security cooperation, trade and investment opportunities, education, mobility and emerging technologies.
